[Updated on July 2] – On Friday (June 26), the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines announced that effective immediately, ICI participants will not be required to respond to peak hours, as their proportion of GA charges for these companies will be frozen.
Today the Ministry of Energy announced that Global Adjustment charges will be frozen effective immediately and Peak responses will not be required. However, this will not effect new participants in the ICI Program this year who can continue to respond this year to lower GA in the 2021/2022 season.
What We Know:
- Current and New Class A participants will have their PDFs frozen (their proportion of GA charges each month).
- Current is defined as having participated in the 2019-2020 season. [Update: New Class A participants are now included in this group].
- Prospective Class A businesses are able to continue participating in this year’s ICI Program. Prospective is defined as first enrolment as of June 15, 2021.
What We Are Seeking Clarification On:
- Are current Class A participants able to partake this year and improve their PDF?
- This is especially relevant for companies that have invested in batteries and generators over the past year.
- Also relevant for companies who may have missed one or more Peaks last year.
- Update: New Class A participants are unable to do so, assumption is that this remains the case for Current and Returning Class A.
- What PDF are companies who were Class A in 2019/2020 and are now current Class B participants going to be billed upon in the 2021/2022 adjustment period?
- These companies have a 2019/2020 PDF.
- These companies are also Prospective 2021/2022 Class A participants.
- No update yet from the Ministry or the IESO. Both have been contacted to provide clarification.
